Slacker....

I have seriously been slacking on the whole write on the blog thing... Hahaha ooooooooooops. It didn't really help that I hate writing blogs in the first place. I love reading them but hate writing. But I hope that my blog gives you a realistic depiction of my life these days. Since I last wrote, I have finished up my time in Bangkok and now have made it through the overnight stay in the Singapore Airport and am working with YWAM's Balut Base Ministry and LOVING it :) But before I tell about life in the Philippines Here's a little about my closing days in BKK:
Phew a lot to catch up on. As some holidays occurred in April I had a bit of extra time to get to know some of my students on the days off. One monday a group of us went to Ancient Siam. This is a park that has lifesize replicas of famous places throughout Thailand. Some of the buildings were really neat and well done while others made me chuckle to myself...kinda like an upscale South of the Border. But all in all I had a great day talking with some students. I was able to share a little bit of my trust and faith in God in my life to one of the students which was exciting. He brings us through things often times to give a testiment.
Over the Song Kran holiday, I had a bit of a rough start, almost everyone at the BSC flew out of town along with many people in BKK. Song Kran is the Thai New Year in which they celebrate by dousing each other with water and a white powder. I was expecting madness and all kinds of fun. My excitements dropped though when red shirt protests heated up which lead to me staying with some friends, Ned and Wanda. I was a bit concerned about the area I was living in but also was just LONELY. Hahaha so I invited myself to stay with them.... and am SO thankful that I did. Their side of town was COMPLETELY different. By the BSC, it was a ghost town; by Silom Road it was one big water fight and party!!! The next day I met up with some students and headed out at 10:30 am and didn't get back till 4:00 pm. I was soaked to the bone but had a blast shooting people with freezing cold water from my water gun!! Oh MAN... So good soo good :) Then that night we had an AMAZING cookout with tons of great food!! The following day we relaxed and then had some of Ned's students over for volleyball and pizza... I truly had a wonderful time with Ned and Wanda. It was so nice to spend time with them!
Then after Song Kran, I had my final classes. My thursday classes didn't go out with the BANG that I had hoped for but Saturday brightened up.. when my class loved the brownies I made and then we made plans to go out on Sunday. Saturday night, we had a small dinner and then ended up having a Bible study on Easter at a friends house. It was GREAT!! Sunday I went to the coast with some students to Chun Buri... I had such a great time! I will truly miss these students as I got to know them best. I loved getting to talk with them more and hear about their lives and delve a bit deeper hearing stories about their heart ache and their joy. I ended my time in BKK sad to go but eager to see what was in store....
Now I am in the Philippines... I must say its very different here! I was immediately adopted by the leader of the day care. She has truly welcomed me!! Yesterday and today I went to the daycare. Its really incredible what they are doing!! Today I taught a lesson to the mothers on breast feeding, food safety, and general nutrition. And tomorrow I lead a bible study! I am loving my time here.... I wish that I could stay longer!!! I have all thursday and friday to enjoy the Philippines so I will definitely do this!! Will post pictures later.... Take care!
